I’m so glad you’re here! I’m excited to share my passion for all things speech and language therapy, especially training and educating families and professionals around the world.
One of the things I love most about my work is partnering with parents. Parents are with their children far more than I ever can be, and they can provide countless hours of support and encouragement each day. By teaching and empowering parents, I know the strategies and tools I share can make a lasting difference in a child’s progress.
My hope is that as Universal Speech Strategies grows, it becomes a place where parents and professionals around the world can find tools, encouragement, and confidence to support children with speech and language needs.

About Me
Hi! I'm Karen Taylor, M.S., CCC-SLP, CAS, a nationally and state certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Autism Specialist with over 30 years of experience. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University, where early training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) shaped my lifelong dedication to helping children who are unable to speak find ways to communicate.
I have held national certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensure through the North Carolina Board of Examiners for over 30 years. I am also a Certified Autism Specialist through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). Throughout my career, I've served individuals across the lifespan in elementary schools, preschools, early intervention programs, nursing homes, and home health settings. I currently work for Wake County Public Schools, serving preschool through 5th-grade students in structured classrooms for children with autism and other developmental delays.
My passion for global outreach has led me to Ethiopia, where I've traveled twice to provide speech and language training for parents and professionals. I continue to collaborate with local schools and medical facilities to expand awareness and services for children with communication challenges.
Every child, everywhere, deserves a way to be heard. That belief inspires everything I do, one voice, one family, one community at a time.
